Over 3 Million New iPads Sold Already
It should come as no surprise to anyone that the new iPad is selling at a phenomenal pace with over 3 million units already in the hands of customers since its release late last week. More impressive than that, the numbers represent Apple’s best opening sales for an iPad unit to date.
New iPad's Quad-Core Lack is Fine
If we’ve said it once then we’ve said it a thousand times. Dual-core processors are cool, quad-core processors are cooler and neither of them are 100% necessary in the current mobile market. Yes, they’re faster and can handle more complex calculations. They also allow for better and faster apps to be developed. But right now there just aren’t that many available apps that require that much raw power.
The New iPad
Apple announced the New iPad today and we have to say that overall we’re very happy with the sound of it. Other than the name, which is actually “New iPad” we feel any huge disappointments or mind-breakingly confusing issues with the announcement. Yes, the New iPad only sports a dual-core processor, unlike the quad-core of many Android tablets that are on their way, but we’re actually happy about that. We’ll tell you why in the next post but right now we’re going to go over some of the basic specs and upgrades found in the New iPad.
This iPad is Fake, We Wish it Wasn’t
In the lead up to Apple’s iPad 3 announcement we’re seeing a lot of fake “leaked info” crop up everywhere and, as such, we’re having to spend a bit more time searching for the good stuff than usual. During out digital travels we stumbled across an interesting video on BGR’s site featuring an obviously fake, yet very awesome future iPad “demonstration”.
iPad 3 May Be Scarce/Called iPad HD
It looks like our hopes of Apple learning from past mistakes will be shattered. Reports are coming in that the iPad 3 will see severe supply shortages that may persist in to Q2 of this year. At the same time we’re hearing that the next Apple tablet may even not be called the iPad 3 at all, but rather the iPad HD.
iPad 3 Launch Date Announced
Apple has finally announced the official press event for the iPad 3. On the March 7th Apple press event the world will finally get its first look at the next instalment of the tablet series that created a global market. So what do we know so far? Not much, really. We’ve heard semi-confirmation of a 2048 x 1536 retina display for the 9.7 inch screen but other than that we still only really have conjecture to go on.
iPad 3 Retina Display Confirmed
Stories of an iPad retina display have been circling around since before the iPad 2. Fans were obviously disappointed upon its release due to the identical display and as such folks were a little more wary when the same rumor started cropping up regarding the upcoming iPad 3. Now it seems that the iPad 3 has finally received confirmation that it will come rocking a full-blown 2048 x 1536 retina display.
Smaller iPad Launching with iPad 3?
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Apple has been testing out a new, smaller-screened tablet than the iPad and iPad 2 that could be released alongside the iPad 3 in March. The new display reportedly measures 8 inches diagonally, down from the 9.7 inch screen of the current iPad range.
Supposed Pic of iPad 3 Case Leaked
The web is buzzing today over a purported leaked photo of the upcoming iPad 3’s casing. As always with Apple rumors, we suggest you don’t put too much stock in this as it’s currently totally unsubstantiated. However, the images do convey some surprising information, should they turn out to be the real-deal.
