The One V is the budget sibling in the recent HTC One line of Android smartphones. It is also the aesthetic descendant of the popular HTC Hero and HTC Legend, carrying on the large-chinned legacy of its forebears.

The One V is a fairly compact Android 4.0 smartphone. Measuring in with just a 3.7 inch display and with dimensions of 120.3mm x 59.7mm x 9.24mm, it’s a far cry from the huge size that some of the higher-end Android devices are boasting nowadays. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; with the new trend in smartphone enlargement many fans of the older, smaller approach from just a couple of years ago are starting to feel a little left out. Lucky for them, there’s still a few options like the HTC One V left.
Hardware-wise the One V’s specs reflect its low price. The single-core 1GHz processor, while top of the line two or so years back, is now a bit dated. It is certainly powerful enough to handle most apps and day-to-day functionality, but some of the more CPU-demanding games on the market will definitely tax its abilities.
The 4GB of on-board storage might also seem diminutive at first, but there is a MicroSD card slot that can support up to 32GB of expanded memory.
Overall we were quite happy when we reviewed the HTC One V back in September (Note: review link takes you to the Australian version of our site). We found it to be one of the more solid budget smartphone experiences that we'd ever had. As such, this deal only serves to enhance its allure.
