VMedia offers internet plans all over Canada with speeds ranging from 6 Mbps to 1000 Mbps.
This VMedia internet plan is provided using a cable modem service, which enables them to provide you with high speed broadband using the same coaxial cables that you would use for your TV. Speeds vary depending on the modem configuration, internet and server traffic, conditions in external environments, condition of the inside wiring and equipment, network management, and many other factors.
VMedia is providing customers with free professional installation for a limited time.
VMedia includes their high speed modem with their cable internet plans at no extra cost.

Acting as a full-service supplier, VMedia partners with several facilities-based network providers—including Bell, Bell Aliant, Cogeco, Rogers, Shaw, Telus, and Videotron—in order to offer cable internet and DSL across every Canadian province. The company buys network access wholesale and resells the service to consumers while providing its own personalized customer service. This allows VMedia to offer cheaper plans that are a better value than those offered by its premium competitors.
VMedia began in 2006 delivering broadcast television globally. Based in Toronto, Ontario, the company has since expanded its business to include home TV services, telephone, high-speed internet and home security.
Television: Over-the-top television uses your internet connection and VMedia’s exclusive VBox device (based on Android) to connect with your TV. If you already own a current Apple TV or a supported Roku device, you can use that instead to access VMedia’s TV service through the services app.
Telephone: Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone enables VMedia to offer unlimited long-distance calling to the U.S. and worldwide for low rates. Even though the system uses your internet connection to route phone calls, you can still use the telephone wires already in your home.
Home security: The VMedia home security system uses wireless connectivity, offering a low-impact installation where no holes in the wall are needed for hiding wires. You can manage this futuristic solution to home monitoring from an easy to use app on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
VMedia partners with several network providers enabling a large service area across much of Canada. Which technology is available to you depends on your location, but VMedia customers may have access to cable internet and DSL technology.
Cable Internet: Cable internet plans with VMedia range from 15Mbps/0.5Mbps (download/upload) to 1000Mbps/30Mbps. Plan options vary depending on your neighbourhood infrastructure, but urban addresses can typically access gigabit download speeds. Historically, heavy internet use by your neighbours could negatively affect your download speeds. However, new fibre-optic mainlines serving large regional districts means this is rarely a problem anymore.
ADSL: Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line, or ADSL for short, often uses existing telecommunications infrastructure originally intended for home telephone systems. VDSL (Very-high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) is a newer version of ADSL that delivers higher download speeds. Using this technology, VMedia can deliver download speeds as fast as 150Mbps—good enough for most Canadian households.
VMedia Coverage Area: VMedia is one of the largest independent ISPs in Canada and partners with several network providers. As a result, high-speed internet service is available in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec. Service may be available where you live in the Maritimes as well. Use our internet plan search tool to see if VMedia is available where you live.
Once you’re ready to subscribe to a VMedia plan, check your address in our home internet search engine. If VMedia is listed in the search results, pick a plan that works best for you and place an order by phone or online. You can schedule an installation date and time for your new service, then call your existing internet service to cancel.
You may need a new modem. We recommend buying it outright through VMedia (monthly rental is also available), or you may find a cheaper supported modem online.
VMedia’s cable internet speeds range from 15Mbps/0.5Mbps (download/upload) to 1024Mbps/30Mbps. DSL speeds through VMedia can range from 6Mbps/0.8Mbps to 150Mbps/30Mbps. We recommend checking and comparing against your existing internet speed.
Every VMedia home internet plan includes unlimited data downloads subject to the Acceptable Use Policy. In plain language, there are no download limits, but VMedia may throttle or cut off your internet connection if it considers your activity outside the normal usage limits.
VMedia supports a wide selection of approved modems depending on your service, speed, and location. Some plans include free modem rental while others require a small monthly rental fee (with refundable deposit). You can also choose to buy the modem outright, but not all models include built-in Wi-Fi, so make sure you also own a wireless router if that's the case.
In order to cancel your plan with VMedia, call the customer support team at 1-855-333-8269 seven days a week from 10am – 9pm. VMedia customers enjoy no-term contracts and no hidden fees, so there should be no unexpected costs if you choose to cancel your plan.
If you are changing addresses and would prefer to keep your plan, you can submit a moving request to VMedia online. Once approved, just pack up your modem, bring it to your new home on the installation date, and a support technician will help activate your service.
No. VMedia internet service is required for access to the company's TV packages. This is due to contractual obligations to the channel providers and is outside the company's control. You also need a current Apple TV model, compatible Roku device, or VMedia's exclusive VBox set-top device.
Once you buy a compatible set-top device—like the VBox 7.1 or VBoxMax—then it’s yours to keep. In order to use VMedia TV, you need to have a VBox, VBoxMax, or compatible Apple TV or Roku device. If you don't already own a device compatible with VMedia TV, you can buy one at the time you sign up.
Refurbished VBox models may be available to buy through the website, but the newer VBoxMax device is not currently in stock. We recommend you avoid the older Vbox 7.1 and instead purchase a current model Roku or Apple TV which also support the VMedia TV service through a downloadable app.
Home telephone service is available as a separate package. Since it uses voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP), an active internet connection is required. The benefit to this technology is VMedia can offer affordable monthly home phone service that includes unlimited long distance throughout Canada, the U.S., and around the world (depending on your plan).
