Samsung Galaxy Note Review
We know this one’s a little late, but we thought that while we eagerly await Samsung’s Galaxy S III to show up on our doorstep and with the Galaxy Note 2 supposedly around the corner we should at least finally do a Samsung Galaxy Note review. The phone/tablet, or “phablet”, hybrid has sparked polarizing opinions amongst smartphone users regarding both its size and the viability of its capacitive stylus.
TAG Heuer Goes Android
TAG Heuer has recently revealed a pretty intriguing product it’s been working on: an Android smartphone. The TAG Heuer Racer is a high-end and sleekly crafted piece of designer hardware. Obviously modelled after the sharp angles and streamlined frame of many modern racing cars, the TAG Heuer Racer is definitely a unique vision of aesthetic smartphone construction.
The Sony Xperia P and U
Not only boasting the Xperia S as its newest Ericsson-less phone line, Sony has introduced the Xperia P and Xperia U. Both the Xperia P and U sport a dual-core 1GHz U8500 chipset and both, unfortunately, will come running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box with an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to follow in Q2.
Sony Xperia S Shipping Worldwide
First shown off at CES in Las Vegas, the Sony Xperia S is one of the first phones in Sony’s new Ericsson-less line of mobile devices. Complete with a stylish new design, Sony is hoping that the Xperia S will see solid global acceptance as it moves forwards in to a new era of Sony Mobile handsets.
LG’s Recent Pre-MWC Devices
LG’s been showing off a few of its upcoming devices lately ahead of the slew of handsets we’re sure to see at MWC in a few days. Whether or not it’s wise to start trickling out its announcements ahead of the huge electronics show is yet to be seen. However, good idea or no LG is still forging ahead so we thought we’d keep you all up to date with what’s going on in LG’s world.
HTC Rhyme Review
The HTC Rhyme is a mid-range Android 2.3 Gingerbread device with which HTC has taken a slightly different approach when it comes to aesthetics and accessories. The HTC Rhyme also comes standard with its own unique charging dock, which allows the phone to operate as a bedside clock with integrated web, weather and notifications. We grabbed a hold of one and took it for a spin to see how the Rhyme compared to other devices in the same field in our HTC Rhyme review.
MWC Predictions: Samsung and HTC
A few of our readers have asked us what they can expect to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona. The unfortunate truth about big expos like the MWC is that it’s almost impossible to separate rumor from truth in the lead up. As such we can’t give any definite predictions, but here are some of the more viable rumors we’ve heard floating around the web in recent months.
Motorola Also Shows Off MOTOLUXE
The Motorola MOTOLUXE has been making an appearance at CES in Vegas. Running Android Gingerbread 2.3.7, the MOTOLUXE seems to be a low high-end or high mid-range device coming soon from Motorola. There’s an 8MP camera, a front-facing VGA camera, a 4.0 inch 854x480 display and the Motoswitch 2.0 user interface (UI). The whole package has a profile of under 10mm, so it should fit nicely in the pocket.
ViewSonic Shows Off ViewPad Tablets
Viewsonic just seems like it’s bragging now, showing off the ViewPad e70, ViewPad 10pi, ViewPad 10e and ViewPhone 3 at CES in Vegas. The ViewPad e70 is a 7 inch Android tablet set to come running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). The e70 comes powered by a single-core 1GHz CPU and with just 4GB of internal memory, essentially labelling it a more budget-oriented option for tablet users.
Sony Unveils the Xperia S at CES
One of the first smartphones to be released after Sony’s buyout of Ericsson, the Sony Xperia S is definitely heading in a slightly new direction when it comes to style. This simplistically beautiful device comes in both black and white and boasts a 1280x720 4.3 inch display. Yes, that’s a 4.3 inch 720p HD screen for anyone who was wondering.
