First shown off at CES in Las Vegas, the Sony Xperia S is one of the first phones in Sony’s new Ericsson-less line of mobile devices. Complete with a stylish new design, Sony is hoping that the Xperia S will see solid global acceptance as it moves forwards in to a new era of Sony Mobile handsets.

The Xperia S, which will apparently be available first in Barcelona during MWC, but is already on its way to other countries, definitely has a chance of fulfilling Sony’s wishes if specs are any indication. The 4.3 inch 720p HD display should provide great images, as should the impressive 12MP camera.

A single-core 1.5GHz processor should definitely be enough to handle just about any app that’s currently on the market, especially when coupled with the 1GB of RAM. There's also 4G LTE support for anyone who lives in an enabled area, which will definitely sweeten the deal for some.

However, the Xperia S will unfortunately come running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, although Sony has promised that an upgrade to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is already in the works and should be available shortly.
