The latest Nexus device, future flagship of the Android operating system, was announced a few weeks ago and it’s probably about time we wrote a little something about it. Interestingly enough, the Nexus 4 is not a Samsung, HTC or even, as some speculated, a Motorola-manufactured device. Instead, the Nexus 4 will be coming to consumers courtesy of LG.
LG’s been showing off a few of its upcoming devices lately ahead of the slew of handsets we’re sure to see at MWC in a few days. LG has officially denied the rumours that its first dual-core smartphone, the LG Optimus 2X, will not be getting the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update that was recently announced. LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
LG has announced one of their next smartphones – the LG Optimus Sol. Hardware-wise the Optimus Sol is far from unimpressive. A single-core 1GHz CPU won’t turn too many heads, but it’s still a fast and solid processor for a smartphone. 512MB of RAM should be enough to handle most multitasking and a 5MP camera is pretty standard for today’s smartphone market.
Asher Moses has reviewed the Windows Phone 7 and he likes it. We'll be posting more on the Windows Phone 7 rollout, but for now you can enjoy his review. Text is incredibly sharp and crisp on Windows Phone 7 and I'm particularly impressed with how emails and documents are rendered on the platform. The menu layout is also pleasing to the eye with big bold headings that can be scrolled through by swiping horizontally.
