Apple's annual iPhone keynote is quickly approaching, likely due in early September. Each year, the company hosts a major livestream presentation from Apple Park, revealing the next generation of iPhone alongside other exciting devices.
The biggest device announcements are expected to be the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone. Interestingly, the standard iPhone 18 may sit this event out entirely, with Apple possibly shifting the regular iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 to a spring 2027 launch.
Apple's September event invites media and creators to Apple Park, where CEO Tim Cook and other executives reveal the latest smartphones and accessories. For those unable to attend, Apple livestreams the keynote to global audiences.
Apple hasn't officially announced the event yet, but it likely will be September 8 or September 9, 2026, with September 9 looking increasingly likely. If Apple sticks with its usual schedule, the keynote should begin at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT from Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

What to expect from the iPhone 18 series
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max aren't expected to receive dramatic redesigns, but Apple could have several meaningful hardware upgrades planned.
Both phones are expected to use Apple's new A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC's 2nm process. Rumours point to around a 15% performance boost and 30% better efficiency over the A19 generation, which could translate to better battery life and Apple Intelligence performance. The Pro Max could also receive a noticeably larger battery, although that may make it slightly thicker and heavier.
Apple may also shrink the Dynamic Island, though many remain divided on whether some Face ID components will move underneath the display this year. On the back, the 48MP main camera is rumoured to gain a variable aperture, letting photographers adjust how much light reaches the sensor and gain greater control over depth of field. Apple could also introduce its next-generation C2 cellular modem on some models, alongside support for more advanced satellite connectivity.

Apple's first foldable iPhone could finally arrive
The biggest announcement could be Apple's first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Rumours say Apple's going with a passport-style design, featuring an approximately 5.5-inch outer display that unfolds into a 7.8-inch, 4:3 inner display that's closer in size and shape to an iPad mini.
Apple has likely spent years trying to minimize one of the biggest drawbacks of today's foldables: the display crease. The company is expected to use a new Samsung-made display, ultra-thin glass, and a redesigned hinge to make the crease nearly invisible. The device could also measure just 4.5 mm thick when unfolded, potentially making it Apple's thinnest iPhone yet.
There may be a few compromises, though. Apple is expected to ditch Face ID in favour of Touch ID built into the power button, while the rear camera system could feature 48MP Wide and Ultra Wide cameras without a Telephoto lens. Rumours also point to an A20 chip, 12GB of RAM, and potentially Apple's largest iPhone battery to date. Pricing is expected to start above $2,500 in Canada, making Apple's first foldable its most expensive iPhone yet.
Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 and more
Apple is also expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Neither appears destined for a major redesign, with some instead pointing toward performance improvements and new health features. The Ultra 4, for instance, has been rumoured to gain blood pressure notifications capable of detecting signs associated with hypertension.
We could also see refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini hardware, though those announcements appear less certain.
How to watch Apple's iPhone 18 event
Once the event is officially announced, we expect Apple to livestream the keynote through its website, Apple TV app, and official YouTube channel, similar to previous Apple events.
