We are big fans of Zoomer Wireless’ affordable, flexible, and straightforward phone plans, as well as the Zoomer Wireless promotions you can take advantage of.
What we like: Inexpensive phone plans
If you don’t need all the bells and whistles that come with phone plans through major carriers, Zoomer Wireless is a great option for limited data at a low price. For example, you can pay just $40 per month for 4GB of high-speed data. These plans are postpaid, but they are month-to-month, so you don’t get locked into a contract (unless you buy a new phone on a financing plan).
What we like: Access to Rogers’ 4G LTE network
Zoomer Wireless runs on Rogers’ robust 4G LTE network, so you get the same great coverage and fast speeds as Rogers customers, but for a fraction of the price.
What we like: Unlimited international texting
If you have a loved one in the US or elsewhere, you don’t have to worry about exorbitant international texting charges—every Zoomer Wireless plan includes unlimited Canada-wide and international texting.
What we don’t like: No unlimited data options
Many wireless customers these days don’t want to have to worry about data limits and subsequent data throttling or overage charges, and understandably so. Unfortunately, Zoomer Wireless doesn’t offer unlimited data; however, many users don’t necessarily need that much data. Right now, the highest data allowance is Zoomer’s 7GB plan, which may be fine for you if you don’t do a lot of streaming.
What we don't like: Limited cell phone options
If you are in the market for a new phone, know that Zoomer Wireless has a fairly limited phone selection, carrying just a few older Android phones. Zoomer’s phone financing can be a bit confusing—you can technically get a phone for free if you sign up for a 2-year contract on qualifying plans. Otherwise, you have to pay outright.

If buying the newest phone is on your radar, both MVNOs offer a limited phone selection.

Public Mobile runs on Telus’ nationwide network, which has wider coverage than Rogers’ network. Public Mobile has more plan options than Zoomer Wireless, including both 3G and 4G plans. If you’re looking for the cheapest plan in Canada, Public Mobile may be worth considering. This Telus MVNO also has a Public Points system, which can help you save on your phone bill.

Zoomer Wireless vs. Lucky Mobile
Lucky Mobile runs on Bell’s powerful network, which also covers more area than Rogers’ network. However, you pay more and get less with Lucky Mobile’s prepaid plans than you do with Zoomer Wireless. For example, the cheapest Lucky Mobile plan costs $15 per month, but you get only 100 minutes and 250MB of data. One advantage to going with Lucky Mobile is that you receive unlimited data at 128kbps speeds, which, admittedly, is very slow, but at least you don’t have to worry about overage charges. And it’s typically fast enough to load a webpage or send an email.
