What we like: Cheap internet plans for basic users

We’re always on the hunt for the best cheap internet plans, and Diallog offers a number of contenders in its basic plans. These plans include speeds fast enough for web browsing and streaming, with monthly payments low enough to keep your wallet happy. The Cable Basic plan offers speeds up to 15Mbps, unlimited data, and a 5G wireless modem for just $17.50/month. Alternatively, the DSL Basic plan is the cheapest option available, offering speeds up to 6Mbps, unlimited data, and a 5G wireless modem for $12.50/month.

As satellite internet becomes more popular in Canada, especially in remote areas, we’d love to see Diallog expand its network to offer a viable alternative.

What we don't like: Price hikes after three months

In Canada, internet plan prices usually remain the same for two years. After that, prices will rise, often by double digits. Canadians have grown accustomed to the charade, cancelling before the price hike and finding a better plan at a more reasonable rate. Diallog raises prices after just three months, meaning the arduous process of switching plans will begin shortly after activating a plan.

We can’t accuse Diallog of a lack of transparency—after all, the plan details list the three month window. But considering the norm in the Canadian market, this feels just short of a hidden fee. We hope the provider realizes this should change to maintain customers’ trust.
