Android users have been waiting a long time for Netlix support on Froyo and Gingerbread and now it seems they finally have it. When Netflix first launched its Android app back in May it was big news, but was only available on a handful of Android devices. Of course it was always possible to install Netflix via the .apk, but most users wouldn’t even know what that means, let alone have any idea of how to go about it.

Well now they don’t have to worry about it anymore. The Netflix app has been updated to support all handsets and devices running on either Android 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingerbread.

Unfortunately for anyone with an Android Honeycomb tablet there’s going to be a bit more of a wait, as support isn’t expected to come along until the Honeycomb 3.2 update. But that shouldn’t be more than a few months away.

In the meantime all you Android 2.2 and 2.3 users just got one more great way of streaming video content to your mobile device. Isn’t the future a wonderful place?
