Samsung make their fair share of concept screens. Paper-thin AMOLEDs, transparent displays that are powered by ambient lighting, spray on quantum dot displays and now a foldable AMOLED screen.
The screen itself boasts some pretty impressive colours and clarity, oh, and did we mention that it folds? By which we didn’t mean it’s a dual-screen display with a hinge in the middle like the Sony S2. No, this screen actually folds in the middle and has showed no signs of wear and tear even after 100 000 tries.
Imagine a 7inch display that was the size of an iPhone when in your pocket? Obviously real-world application is a ways off as yet, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t started salivating. Until Samsung is ready we’ll just have to keep the dream alive in fantasy, but we do love Samsung’s penchant for constantly staying seven or so steps ahead of the competition when it comes to funky and outrageous displays. Keep it up, Samsung. You keep making them and we’ll keep writing about them.
