Rogers is an internet service provider in Canada that provides cable and fibre internet service to New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario. Rogers offers a number of different plans, with speeds from  to 2000Mbps and 24/7 technical support.

Our favourite Rogers internet plan is the Ignite Internet 500u, which offers 500Mbps speeds and unlimited data for $110/month. Grabbing this much speed for this much money is a great deal–one that’s ideal for families.

Rogers offers cable and fibre internet service to New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario. We’re impressed with Rogers’ speeds, especially its high-speed options, and the perks that come with its plans.

What we like: Affordable cable and fibre internet at various speeds

Rogers offers a number of affordable cable and fibre internet plans. The best Rogers internet plan is the Ignite Internet 500u, which delivers 500Mbps speeds and unlimited data for $110/month. For households looking for something much cheaper, we recommend the Ignite Internet 50u, which offers  speeds and unlimited data for /month.

What we like: High-speed internet for high-powered households

If you’re a work-from-home professional or a hardcore gamer, you want premium internet speeds without breaking the bank. Rogers’ fastest internet plan is the Ignite Internet Gigabit 1.5, which offers 2000Mbps speeds and unlimited data for $130/month.

What we like: Bundling with Ignite TV

Rogers bundles internet with Ignite TV, offering customers an opportunity to grab fast internet, live TV, and streaming at a reduced monthly price. All of Rogers’ Ignite packages offer 500Mbps speeds and six free months of Disney+. There are five different bundles available, with the cheapest at $99.99/month and the most expensive at $189.99/month. We especially like the value of the Ignite Flex 5 package, which offers 37 total channels, six free months of Disney+, 500Mbps download speeds, unlimited data, and free installation for $124.99/month.

What we don't like: Coverage limited to New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario

Rogers has one of the largest mobile networks in Canada, but its internet service is only available in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario. The internet provider has plans to expand its fibre network and we hope this means its internet plans will be available in more provinces across the country.

What we don't like: Installation fees

Rogers internet plans include a $70 installation fee for new activations. If you’ve had a Rogers connection in the past, Ignite Express installation costs $39. Many internet providers in Canada waive installation fees and we’d love to see Rogers follow their lead.

Rogers offers a number of solid internet plans, but its competitors offer lightning-fast speeds and some enticing perks. Let’s take a look at the competition and see how they stack up against Rogers.

Rogers Internet vs. Bell Internet

Bell’s fibre internet plans are among the best in the country. Its Gigabit Fibe 8.0 is the fastest internet plan in Canada, with blistering  speeds and unlimited data for /month. The Gigabit Fibe 1.5 is almost identical to Rogers’ Ignite Internet Gigabit 1.5 plan, featuring 1500Mbps speeds and unlimited data for $110/month. There’s a pattern there: for every Rogers internet plan, there’s an almost identical Bell plan. Bell, however, has the overall edge because of its unparalleled ultra-fast plans.

Rogers Internet vs. Altima Internet

Altima provides high-speed fibre internet to five provinces, including Ontario. The provider offers more options than Rogers and, on the whole, has lower prices. Its 1G/30Mbps plan is an especially good value, delivering  speeds and unlimited data for /month. We’re not wild about Altima’s additional fees: the provider charges $90 for installation and some plan prices vary depending on your specific location. Still, we like Altima’s plans and prices, so we recommend exploring its offerings before jumping to a Rogers plan.

Rogers Internet vs. Starlink Internet

Starlink internet provides satellite internet service to most of Canada, including New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and northern Ontario. For $140/month, Starlink customers get 150Mbps speeds and unlimited data, though they’ll also pay $350 upfront for hardware. Unless you’re in a remote part of the country that’s not a part of Rogers’ coverage map, we recommend going with Rogers. The Ignite Internet 150u provides 100Mbps and unlimited data for $85/month and a fraction of the installation fees.

Rogers offers solid options for residents of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario looking for cable and fibre internet at various speeds. We especially like their Ignite bundles, which provide high-speed internet and the best of streaming at discounted rates. With that being said, some of Rogers’ competition, like Bell and Altima, provide comparable plans and, in some cases, better value.
