Huge Update For Flickr's iOS App
Flickr released a major update today to their iOS app. Much of the talk has been about the addition of filters (ala Instagram) but there's a lot more to it that is worth a look. The contacts view. Double tap = favoriting/liking the photo (chalk up another nod to Instagram). You can flick across to see more pics from any one contact, or down to see more contacts. Tap on a photo to go through to a details page & comment.
Google Maps Hits App Store
Yes, you read that correctly. Google Maps is finally available on the iPhone… again. After Apple’s infamously failed Maps catastrophe, iPhone users can finally gain access to the world’s most used navigation service. It seems that, despite doing its best, Apple simply wasn’t able to compete with Google in terms of, well, quality.
Nokia Lumia 820 Review
The Nokia Lumia 820 is one of the two debut smartphones for Nokia on the new Windows Phone 8 platform. Of the two, the Lumia 820 is the lower-end model and is aimed at the mid-range handset market. Despite playing second fiddle to Nokia’s current flagship, the Lumia 820 is still a surprisingly powerful and solid smartphone.
Nokia Lumia 620 Unveiled
Nokia’s next Lumia Windows Phone 8 device, the Nokia Lumia 620, has been unveiled. The Lumia 620 will be a more affordable option than either the Lumia 920 or 820, aiming itself at the lower ends of the smartphone market. We’ve seen previously that Windows Phone is a fantastic platform for budget devices, as the simplistic yet beautiful UI can still impress, even on a smaller screen and with lower resolution. Another benefit is that Windows Phone is a much more closed UI than something like Android.

Can Windows Phone Convert Parents?
Many parents can attest that their smartphones and gadgets are a brilliant distraction for youngsters – but although letting kids play around with your device might give you some much-needed peace, it also adds the worry of just what exactly they’re getting up to. Without sufficient parental control, it’s only too easy for your little ones to access things not fit for young eyes, alter your settings and delete valuable data, or go on a social networking spree and post cute (but gibberish) status updates.
Google Fiber Speeds of 700Mbps
The people of Kansas are finally getting access to Google Fiber as it begins to go live for general consumers. As a result, the internet is being flooded with pictures from happy users once they discover the actual speeds they’re getting. Crazy maximum real-world speeds of around 700Mbps on Ethernet and 200Mbps on WiFi.
Humble Bundle #4 on Android Review
The Humble Bundle is a game package-deal that crops up now and again. The idea is that customers pay as much or as little as they want for a pre-set pack of games that have proven themselves as popular in the recent market. Not only is the price chosen by the purchaser, but the distribution of the funds as well. How the money is split between the developer, charity and the Humble Bundle organizers is decided by the payer. As an added bonus, customers who pay above the current average payment are gifted with an extra game (sometimes multiple), adding more incentive for customers to pay slightly more and more as time goes on without actually enforcing anything.
Virtual Keyboard for iPhone Concept
A UK student has created a semi-functional virtual keyboard system for the iPhone that, as far as hardware goes, requires only a table and the iPhone itself. The system uses the built-in accelerometer to determine how far away a finger is hitting the table by judging vibration strength relative to the phone.
