LTE is a fantastic network, it’s just about the fastest wireless data network out there at the moment. Unfortunately, however, those speeds come at a price – severely hampered battery life.

That’s right, if you thought 3G was a battery hog you might have a bit of trouble with 4G.

Now, obviously enough it’s not always necessary to burn down information at crazy LTE speeds, as many websites and apps only require 3G. But you can’t turn LTE off, can you?

Well you can. Until now it’s required the download of a paid app, but fortunately for Thunderbolt users there’s now a free app available on the Android Market that allows users to easily toggle between data network types.

It’s not perfect, but it’ll definitely do until Google gives us a better option for LTE toggling.
