Text Koodo Offers Free Storage Boost on Galaxy S10 and S10e over image of a man using a smartphone

Article Summary

For a limited time, customers buying a new 128GB model of the popular Samsung Galaxy S10e or Galaxy S10 on select plans will get a free on-board storage upgrade to 256GB or 512GB.

Not every smartphone supports expandable storage with a microSD card. Samsung played with the idea of removing the option in their Galaxy S6, but it quickly returned with the Galaxy S7 lineup following customer demand. Today, the microSD card remains a cheap and easy way to add expandable storage.

While you may be tempted to opt for the cheapest model with the least amount on-board storage, SD cards don't have the same speed as the built-in memory. They can be great for storing lots of photos and movies for on-the-go, but apps installed to external storage can run slower and the SD card is more prone to file corruption.

Koodo's offering another option. For a limited time, their popular deal on the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10e is improved by letting you upgrade to more onboard storage.

Right now you can pick up a Samsung Galaxy S10 with 128GB from most carriers for less than $200, but Koodo will give you the 512GB model for only $150 upfront on any Tab Extra Extra Large plan

You'll pay $65/month more than if you bought the phone outright and put it on a Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) plan, but that's still less than paying the full $1,765 retail value upfront. Including the $150 upfront you only save $55, but you can pay it off over two years making it much easier on the wallet. The trade-in value of Galaxy S models also stays high in the third year; the Galaxy S8 still has a trade-in value of around $180.

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is a popular choice for those who want premium performance, industry-leading screen and flagship smartphone features but don't want to break the bank. Right now Koodo offers an upgrade to the 256GB version at the same price as the 128GB model. That's $0 down on any Tab Extra Large plan.

The plan costs $55/month which works out to costing slightly more than buying this model at the retail value of $1,290 and signing up to a BYOP plan. However, if you can afford to pay $500 upfront, then buy this phone on a Tab Medium which is only $15/month more. The total cost to you after two years is only $860 ($500 down + $360 over twenty-four months).

Sadly, the premium Samsung Galaxy S10+ model isn't included in this promotion. With up to 1TB of onboard storage, it's the most elite Samsung Galaxy model to own... at least until the Samsung Galaxy Fold hits the market.
