Koodo is one of the leading MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) in Canada, operating on Telus' Canada-wide network. After testing Koodo's services for a month, I've had the pleasure of seeing the carrier's services first-hand to confidently break down the best plans in 2026.
For those looking for reliable, speedy, and cost-efficient 5G plans, Koodo is a phenomenal option to choose from. The carrier provides unlimited Canada-wide calling, texting, and international minutes, and you get one free additional perk to choose from. Canadian customers get a bit of flexibility, whether it's premium voicemail or 5G speed boosts, depending on your needs.
Here's a quick breakdown of what I consider to be Koodo's best plans.
The best Koodo mobile data plan is the 60GB Talk & Text plan, given its sizable data bucket for everyday users, nationwide calls and texts, and robust coverage in Canada.
The 3GB Talk & Text plan is the best budget-friendly plan for a single line, with just enough data to support a lighter workflow, navigation tools, and social media.
Koodo's 100GB Talk & Text plan is the best option for heavy data users. With 100GB, customers will have ample data to stream and power a workflow while off wi-fi.

The bottom line
Earlier, we tested Koodo's 60GB Talk and Text plan throughout our review of the carrier's services. As a cheaper alternative to the Big Three, Koodo's 60GB Talk & Text plan offers the best option for most Canadians.
2. Best cheap plan: 3GB Talk & Text
View DetailsIf you don't require fast speeds or a large data pool each month, then why pay higher prices? Koodo supports a low-cost alternative to its core 5G plans with a $35 monthly offering, including 3GB of data. Customers also get the standard Canada-wide talk and text support so they can stay connected and make calls and texts.
Reasons to buy
- Affordable price

The bottom line
For many Canadians, the 3G Talk & Text plan might feel a little antiquated. That being said, this is by far the most cost-efficient plan from Koodo. This plan is an easy recommendation for any customers looking to save more on their monthly plan while still accessing the essentials.
3. Best data plan: 100GB Talk & Text
View DetailsKoodo's 100GB Talk & Text plan is best suited for the heavy data users in Canada. For those who stream videos or scroll through TikTok during commutes, having a lot of data becomes essential. Consider this plan if you hotspot frequently while off of a Wi-Fi connection.

Why it’s the best cheap plan from Fido
- 100GB of 5G data can power a moderate workflow when outside the home. This data pool is enough to safely stream Netflix, scroll social media, and download smaller files.
- You also get all the trappings of Koodo's plans, including Canada-wide Talk & Text as well as 1 free perk to choose from like 3-day Easy Roam International access.
The bottom line
Although the 100GB Talk & Text plan is on the more expensive side, it's undeniably the best data plan from Koodo. 100GB of 5G data is more than most Canadians need, but it also gives enough leeway if you plan to stream content or upload and download files more often.
Why pick a Koodo family plan?

Koodo's network coverage spans Canada, providing services to 99% of Canadians as it runs off Telus' national network. Like its parent company, Koodo supports 5G speeds where available. Koodo's 5G network can be commonly found in metro areas across BC, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec.
During my hands-on testing with Koodo, I found that signal strength and speeds were very solid. On average, data speeds between 120–220Mbps in Toronto and urban areas. In rural areas, speeds never dropped beyond a usable threshold. Even in more densely populated areas, Koodo's reliability remained intact. In rural and semi-rural testing, Koodo held up better than other budget carriers like Fido. Our experience with Koodo

HOW TO EVALUATE
A Koodo PLAN
Koodo offers a small handful of plans to choose from with varying prices and data allotments. If you're thinking of signing up with Koodo, consider the following to make sure you find the best plan for your budget and needs.
What to look for
- How much data do I need? Koodo supports four core mobility plans with varying data pools. Before purchasing a plan with the carrier, determine how much data you typically need each month. If your usage on your phone is light (ie, emails, social media), you can opt for a cheaper plan. If you stream or hotspot occasionally, you may require more data.
- Are plan perks more important than price?
With each of Koodo's core plans, customers can choose one free perk to use with their plan. Available perks include rollover data, the unlimited long-distance pack, a 5G speed boost, and a 3-day Easy Roam package. These offer a bit of flexibility as customers can choose a perk that meets their needs rather than feel like they're paying for benefits they won’t use.
What to avoid
- Overpaying for the sake of data
- According to the CRTC, the average Canadian uses just over 10GB of wireless data per month. You know better than anyone if you're a heavy data user or not, so it's worth not going for the most expensive plan with the most data if you won't end up using it.
- You can also take a look at our Mobile Data Usage guide to get a better idea of how much data you might be comfortable with each month.
How we picked the best unlimited plans
Each of our plan picks is underpinned by extensive first-hand testing and review of Koodo's features and performance. Our team evaluates phone plans based on the following criteria:
- Price & value: Not all cheap plans are “bad,” and not all expensive plans are worth it. We look at everything a plan includes and compare it both to other plans from the same carrier, as well as similar plans from competitors in the market, to determine whether the value is consistent with the price.
- High-speed data: Also called “premium” data, this is how much data you get at full 4G/5G speeds before they can or will slow down. The more guaranteed high-speed data the plan includes, the better experience you’ll generally have—but there’s also usually a limit to how much you actually need, and we recommend that you not overpay for data that you won't use.
- Coverage & network reliability: The breadth of each carrier’s 4G LTE and 5G networks determines your reception and service. Particularly in the case of 5G, some carriers offer far more robust coverage than others, which affects how their phone plans perform in different parts of the country.
- Plan extras & perks: In addition to the basics—talk, text, and data—some plans throw in freebies like hotspot allowances, cloud storage, entertainment subscriptions, or service discounts.
Our mobile experts have been customers of Koodo who have tested the network extensively. In addition to running speed tests, tethering to the hotspot, and analyzing coverage reliability, we also leveraged proprietary data and real-world customer feedback to evaluate plan options, cost, and inclusions. We considered plan-specific elements, including perks, premium data allowances, and mobile hotspot allocations. After our hands-on testing and extensive research, we picked the best plans we feel meet the needs of most people.
