Nokia’s been having a tough time of it lately. First there was Stephen Elop’s Burning Platform letter that was leaked to the press. Next was their woefully received Symbian Anna update and more recently the Finnish giant announced that it would be pulling out of the Japanese market completely. Now it seems that Nokia is taking things one step further and slashing the prices of the Nokia N8, the E6 and the C7 by 15% in Europe and possibly other countries.
The move is a bit of a shock considering Nokia’s bold move of switching to supporting the Windows Phone operating system (OS) as its major platform is yet to even take effect. The combination of so many drastic tactics paints an even bleaker picture of Nokia’s current stability than we’d previously realized.
However, we still have high hopes for Nokia’s switch to the Windows Phone platform. The recently released Nokia N9 has experienced a surprising number of positive reviews from tech gurus due in part to its Meego operating system and in part to its solid hardware and unique design.
If Nokia can keep this level of quality up on the Windows Phone platform then we hope to see them release some great and hopefully company-saving devices in the near future.
