People who send text messages while driving are are obviously idiots who assume they have remarkable driving abilities which exclude them from the danger this behaviour brings about.

If you know someone like this who refuses to listen to reason, now you can ask them to prove their skill.

Game designer Holden Link has created a new video game called SMS Racing which has players racing around a track and replying to incoming SMS messages at the same time. Your goal is to answer messages in under 10-seconds, or else your friends will think you're an asshole, the game tells you.

You can try the game out here.

Link's game is a great way to demonstrate how difficult it is to do these two focus-absorbing tasks simultaneously, but it is only one-side of the coin. The other is the devastating effects of this thoughtless crime, which is driven home well in a new 30-minute document by filmmaker Werner Herzog.

Commissioned by AT&T, the film From One Second to the Next speaks to families of those who have been injured or killed in accidents as a result of someone texting and driving. The film is heartbreaking, not only pointing out of tragic these crimes are, but how needless and easily avoided they could have been.
