Gingerbread for Samsung Galaxy S
Just today a massive leak hit the web; the Gingerbread update for Samsung’s flagship phone the Galaxy S. You still can’t get it officially, something which is no surprise due to most Galaxy S owners not even having access to Froyo yet. But for anyone out there with a Rooted or Jailbroken Galaxy S you might want to start checking out the forums for news on how to get your hands on this little gem.
Apple and Light Peak Technology
The internet has been ablaze with talk of Intel’s new Light Peak technology for a while now. What is it? Who’s funding it? Why should we care? Well without getting in to too much detail Light Peak will (remember, this is minus the detail) offer a similar service to USB, only at a current theoretical maximum of 10Gbps.
Our Top iPhone 4 Cases
In a world where the most popular communication handset is literally made of glass it’s important to be up to speed on what kind of protective options are out there. Here is a short list of our top-pick cases for the Apple iPhone 4. NOTE: This cases are for the GSM version of the iPhone 4 and will most likely not fit Verizon's new CDMA iPhone 4.
Aristotle, Logic & Zombies. What?
What could Aristotle and video game advertisements possible have to do with each other? Most of the time, very little. However, this video game advertisement blew us away and after our jaws came up off the floor, it was only Aristotle's description of pathos that we could think about. The ad feels like like having your heart stepped on whilst someone peels onions right next to you. And the ad is only for a video game.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo Unveiled
Sony Ericsson showed off a lot of new handsets at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) recently and among them was the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo. The Xperia Neo is an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) handset with a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. Basically this device’s hardware doesn’t wow us, but it’s not a massive disappointment either. The noticeable lack of a dual-core processor is a downside, but in no way a crippling one.
Samsung Galaxy S II Unveiled
The next champion of Samsung’s Galaxy S line has finally been announced; The Samsung Galaxy S II. The Galaxy S II has some pretty hefty hardware improvements over its predecessor. A dual-core 1GHz processor is at the top of the ‘impressive specs’ list, closely followed by a beautiful 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus display sporting a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The employment of Gorilla Glass on this display is a great addition and should make the screen resistant to most casual impact damage and scratches.
Facebook Phone Demonstrated
Mark Zuckerberg’s statement in late 2010 that there will never be a Facebook phone is starting to look a little dicey, especially on the back INQ turning up at TechCrunch headquarters yesterday and showing off a prototype. “Our whole strategy is not to build any specific device or integration or anything like that. Because we’re not trying to compete with Apple or the Droid or any other hardware manufacturer for that matter.”
Xperia Play (Playstation Phone) Soon
The much awaited and rumoured “PlayStation Phone” is finally starting to gain a little substance in the tech media. Making its commercial debut with the moniker “Sony Ericsson Xperia Play”, the gaming/phone hybrid is already making ripples in the smartphone market.
Motorola Atrix and the Webtop App
Motorola has joined the dual-core smartphone revolution, following in the footsteps of the LG Optimus 2X. Motorola’s new super-powered toy, the Motorola Atrix, will hit the world market in late February and is sure to make a splash. Powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo) the dual-core chipset makes short work of just about any task you’d think to throw at it. The Atrix is also promised to have HSPA+ support in the US and, in America, looks like it will be available exclusively to AT&T customers.
White iPhone 4 Release Date Found?
Two major iPhone 4 vendors have been discovered to have the white iPhone 4 in their inventory systems. Originally the rumour, with only a couple of questionable screenshots to back it up, was based on a “weiß” (white) iPhone 4 showing up in Vodafone Germany’s intranet. However, no release date was given to lend credence to the story.
