Samsung Mobile Event May 24th
Samsung has announced a big event in New York on the 24th of May. We already know plenty about the Samsung Galaxy S II, as well as the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. So what’s this May 24th even going to be about? Our guess is a few official release dates for the Galaxy S II around the world and more of the same for the Galaxy Tabs 8.9 and 10.1.
Flash 10.2 Released on Honeycomb
Flash 10.2 has come out for Android Honeycomb (Android 3.0) tablets. Flash 10.2 boasts some significant improvements over Flash 10.1, the first version of Flash support widely available on Android devices. Basically Adobe seems to have worked out most of the major kinks associated with running Flash on a mobile device. Originally, our biggest problem with Adobe Flash 10.1 was that it loaded Flash content in the form of an overlay, rather than as part of the page in question. The issue with this approach was (and still is) that elements of the page were not properly connected and as such the user experienced parts of the page scrolling at different speeds. This caused the browser to slow down and become jerky while it tried to keep all the elements of the page in the right places in relation to one another.
More Free Apps on Android than iOS
According to Netherland research company Distimo there are now more free apps available for Android devices than for iPhone users. It’s been a long time coming, but it seems Google’s Android mobile operating system (OS) has finally taken its first major step towards taking worldwide app domination from Apple.
The Next Gen in Snapdragon CPUs

Samsung Galaxy S II Gets Ads
Samsung’s new flagship phone, the Galaxy S II, finally has its own ad campaign. The ads focus on different elements of the Galaxy S II’s design, namely its crisp resolution, impressively thin form factor and voice-control. We’ve grabbed our favourite 3 ads from YouTube and assembled them for you below.
The Sony S1 and S2 Tablets
We’ve been hearing whispers about a new Sony tablet around the web for a while now. Most centered around the concept that Sony would push their current advantage in the gaming-centric market and announce a tablet with a similar focus; a PlayStation Tablet.
BlackBerry PlayBook Available in US
RIM’s much awaited BlackBerry PlayBook tablet has finally hit stores in the US and Canada. The pricing is similar to what we’ve seen in the rest of the tablet market with the 16GB version starting at $500, the 32GB coming in at $599 and the 64GB option finishing it off at $699.
Angry Birds Dress Up For Easter
If there’s a game company that likes getting dressed up for the holidays it’s Angry Birds developer Rovio. Now they’re continuing their standing tradition with an Easter update for this popular title. The update boasts 15 new levels and, most importantly, cute little rabbit ears for all the piggies to wear while your avian assault weapons crush them from above.
Apple Sues Samsung For Galaxy
We’ve mentioned before how similar the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab devices bare a striking resemblance to their iPhone and iPad counterparts and it seems that we weren’t the only ones to notice. Apple has finally had enough of Samsung’s lack of creativity when it comes to external design and are suing the Korean giant for copying their “look and feel”. It really isn’t a surprising move considering Apple’s penchant to sue anybody and everybody they consider to be copying them in any way. However, this time it doesn’t seem so ridiculous.
Ovi Maps 3D Takes On Google Earth
Nokia has released a beta update for their Ovi Maps navigator. For certain cities around the world users are now given the option to make their way through a 3D representation. It’s pretty different from Google’s street view approach, whereby Google sends vehicles loaded with cameras down every road in the world and offer a pieced-together photo of epic proportions.
